Thursday 8th April - Pat McCarthy Trio

In 1945, this tune defined Bebop for Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker and is the inspiration for this sextet's approach to arranging standards, not just from the forties but also the fifties and sixties. Mel Dodd is in the trumpet's chair, the reeds are Paul Froggatt (tenor sax), John Woodhouse (alto sax and clarinet) and the rhythm section is Mike Reynolds (keyboards), Laurence Canty (bass) and Peter Froggatt (son of Paul - drums) demonstrating that Jazz can appeal to a new generation!
